Position: Senior Lead of Effective Altruism Hong Kong (EAHK) & GiveWise
Location: Hong Kong (flexible remote working within Hong Kong)·

Brief description
We’re hiring a Senior Lead to drive EAHK operations and scale GiveWise. The role involves setting strategy, overseeing operations and fundraising, representing EAHK publicly, and ensuring GiveWise delivers trusted, effective, and tax-efficient giving. You’ll also manage a small volunteer team, build partnerships, and secure sustainable funding.

Effective Altruism Hong Kong is a Section 88 registered charity that helps people apply EA ideas through our programmes and effective giving guidance, building a community of people who seek to continuously investigate and take action on maximising impact through applying evidence and careful reasoning. EAHK aims to be an impact multiplier by enabling different sectors to maximise their potential to help others.
What you'll do:

Strategy & leadership: set vision and multi-year strategy for EAHK and GiveWise, translate strategy into measurable goals, and report to the Board.

Programme direction: design, launch, and evaluate GiveWise services (platform development, donor advice, outreach), and oversee educational programmes and events.

Fundraising & partnerships: lead fundraising, cultivate donors, and form strategic partnerships with charities, funders, and corporates.

Operations & governance: manage staff/volunteers, budgets, legal/compliance matters (Hong Kong charity law and tax-efficient giving), and oversee robust financial controls. Manage internal system and processes, documentation and knowledge management.

Public representation & communications: act as EAHK spokesperson, raise public awareness, and promote evidence-based giving in English. Cantonese and Putonghua are highly desirable.

External engagement: Maintain productive relationships with other EA-aligned organisations, networks, and stakeholders

Community outreach and 1-on-1 engagement: Serve as the first point of contact for individuals interested in effective altruism in Hong Kong, including facilitating 1-on-1 conversations with newcomers and making high-quality personal introductions within the community.

Event design and delivery: Lead the planning and execution of in-person events in Hong Kong to foster meaningful connections within the EA community. This could include introductory meetups, advanced workshops or retreats.

Support for local and volunteer groups: Provide strategic, financial or logistical support to volunteer-led EA groups in Hong Kong, For example, shared spaces and resources, cost reimbursements, or help with succession.
Must-Haves

Clear commitment to effective altruism principles and evidence‑based giving.

Strong leadership experience in non-profit management, social enterprise, or philanthropy, with a track record of building programmes or scaling platforms.

Experience in fundraising and donor cultivation, ideally including Hong Kong or Greater China philanthropic markets.

Excellent strategic, operational, and stakeholder-management skills.

Strong written and spoken English; Cantonese or Putonghua is highly desirable.

Eligibility to work in Hong Kong.
Nice-to-haves

Experience launching or operating donation platforms or giving-advice services.

Background in charity law, tax-efficient giving structures in Hong Kong, or partnerships with international NGOs.

Network among Hong Kong philanthropists, family offices, or corporate CSR teams.
