Much research has shown that the most effective projects/charities can be 50 times more impactful than average charities, and 1000 times more impactful than the least.

Why do you not list my preferred cause area or charity?
We offer to donors the opportunity to donate to the charity or charities of their choice within the list of highly impactful charities we have evaluated, selected and onboarded. There is no shortage of problems in the world, and they all deserve attention. However, we believe that because resources are limited, it’s important to triage when determining what to tackle first. Some problems are both larger and easier to solve than others, and we think resources should be directed to these until they’re no longer “low-hanging fruit.”

What is the relationship between GiveWise and Effective Altruism Hong Kong?
GiveWise is a project of Effective Altruism Hong Kong Limited, a S88 tax-exempt charity.
Can I let GiveWise manage where my donation goes?
No, we do not manage a fund; we offer to donors the opportunity to discover the list of highly impactful charities we have evaluated, selected and onboarded.
How does GiveWise work?
Effective Altruism Hong Kong aims to reduce suffering by doing work that leads to the alleviation of poverty and advancement of education across the world, as specified by Hong Kong’s charity ordinance. Effective Altruism Hong Kong may direct funds to specific registered charities that share the same charitable purposes where these charities are best placed to accomplish these objectives.
