Organisation overview

Effective Altruism Hong Kong (EAHK) is a Hong Kong–registered charity that helps people apply ideas from effective altruism to do more good with their time, money, and careers. EAHK runs events, fellowships, and community programmes, and provides guidance on effective giving to high-impact charities globally and locally through the GiveWise website/platform.

GiveWise is a project by Effective Altruism Hong Kong that makes it easy for Hong Kong donors to give tax-efficiently to high-impact charities worldwide. GiveWise is currently a simple donation portal that supports one-time and recurring giving, credit card and bank transfer payments, and custom charity allocations.

Purpose of this RFP

EAHK is seeking proposals from qualified consultants or small agencies to provide part-time search support focused on both traditional search engine optimisation (SEO) and generative engine optimisation (GEO), meaning improving how content is discovered, interpreted, and cited by AI-powered answer engines as well as conventional search engines. The selected consultant will help EAHK strengthen its organic visibility, improve the discoverability of key programmes and ideas, and build a practical foundation for ongoing search performance.

Project background

EAHK wants to ensure that people searching for information related to effective altruism, high-impact giving, careers with impact, and related cause areas can more easily find accurate, relevant, and up-to-date information from EAHK and GiveWise. Because search behaviour increasingly includes AI-generated summaries and answer interfaces, the engagement should also address how EAHK and GiveWise content can be structured and maintained so it is more likely to be surfaced and represented accurately in generative search environments.

Scope of work

The proposal should address the following areas:

  • Conduct a baseline audit of EAHK's and GiveWise’s current websites and broader organic search presence, including technical, on-page, content, and authority factors.

  • Identify and prioritise the most important SEO and GEO opportunities for the next 3–6 months.

  • Conduct keyword and topic research relevant to Hong Kong and regional audiences interested in effective altruism, philanthropy, charity, AI, and related themes.

  • Help develop and refine content strategy to expand our reach among donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders.

  • Recommend and, where feasible, implement improvements to page titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal linking, URL structure, schema, and content formatting.

  • Recommend and, where feasible, implement technical fixes related to crawlability, indexing, sitemaps, robots.txt, broken links, mobile usability, and site performance.

  • Advise on how key pages can be structured to improve clarity, extractability, and citation potential in AI-powered answer engines.

  • Support the development of a practical content or page optimisation plan for priority pages, including FAQs or other formats that may improve discoverability in both search and answer engines.

  • Recommend a light-touch approach to backlink, citation, or partnership opportunities that can strengthen domain authority and trust signals.

  • Establish or refine performance tracking and reporting, including key metrics, dashboards, and a concise monthly update process.

Expected deliverables

Proposals should be built around a deliverable set such as the following:

  • Initial audit and prioritised roadmap.

  • Keyword and topic research summary.

  • Recommendations for technical, on-page, and GEO-related improvements.

  • Implementation support for agreed priority tasks.

  • A simple reporting framework and monthly progress update.

  • A short end-of-engagement review with recommendations for next steps.

Vendors may suggest refinements to these deliverables if they believe a different structure would better fit the scope and budget.

Consultant profile

EAHK is particularly interested in proposals from consultants or agencies that demonstrate:

  • Relevant hands-on experience in SEO, with evidence of meaningful improvements in rankings, organic traffic, or search visibility.

  • Familiarity with GEO or adjacent practices related to AI-powered search, answer engines, or structured content optimisation.

  • Ability to work pragmatically with a small nonprofit team and limited internal capacity.

  • Strong written English, Cantonese/Chinese, given the Hong Kong context.

  • Experience with mission-driven, nonprofit, educational, or content-led organisations is preferred.

Proposal requirements

Please include the following in your proposal:

  1. Brief introduction to your firm or consultancy.

  2. Summary of relevant experience, including examples of similar SEO or GEO work.

  3. Proposed approach to the engagement, including how you would prioritise the first 3 months.

  4. Proposed scope, deliverables, timeline, and estimated hours per week.

  5. Fee proposal, including hourly or project-based pricing and any assumptions.

  6. Reporting and communication approach.

  7. Two relevant client references or case studies.

Clear scope, budget, timeline, expectations, and evaluation criteria are standard elements of strong SEO RFPs and help produce more comparable proposals.

Budget and timing

EAHK anticipates a part-time engagement of approximately 5–10 hours per week for an initial period of 3–6 months, though vendors may recommend a different structure if justified by the proposed scope. The expected start date is as soon as a suitable consultant is identified.

Evaluation criteria

Proposals are expected to be evaluated based on the following factors:

  • Understanding of EAHK's goals and context.

  • Quality and practicality of the proposed approach.

  • Relevant SEO and GEO experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a small mission-driven organisation.

  • Clarity of deliverables, reporting, and communication.

  • Overall cost-effectiveness.

EAHK may also consider whether a proposal avoids unrealistic promises, such as guaranteed rankings, and shows a thoughtful understanding of trade-offs and constraints.
